ANGOKA recently attended IAA Mobility at the beginning of September. Read on to learn about our experience at one of the biggest automotive events of the year, by Jay Nagley (Head of Business Development, Land Mobility & Northern Ireland).
We had a really good trip to the IAA (International Automobile Exhibition), or German Motor Show in plain English. Except it wasn’t about the motors. After years of competing to show off their latest vehicles in ever-more extravagant halls in Frankfurt, the IAA has moved to Munich and re-invented itself. It is now about mobility: you were more likely to see an electric scooter than a petrol car. In fact, in most halls, you were more likely to see a Centaur than a petrol-engined car. We spotted one petrol-powered AMG GT cowering on the Mercedes-Benz stand, but everything else had either a battery or a fuel cell.
The focus was on the technology that would enable the electric revolution, so ANGOKA was right at home. We had a lot of interest in how our technology could help secure automated vehicles, and also how it could enable secure condition monitoring (e.g. remote monitoring of battery performance). We met some of the largest automotive suppliers, and also had a meeting with Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for Europe, the engaged (and engaging) Chris Barton. In fact the UK’s Department for International Trade did a great job of introducing us to potential partners, so our thanks go to them. We are now following up on the contacts we made, and are looking forward to the new era of post-petrol motor shows.
Missed IAA Mobility this year? Make sure to catch us at several other upcoming events – we look forward to seeing you soon!
