Drone acceptance on the rise following BT-led Project Xcelerate

November 24, 2021

A recent survey by Project Xcelerate, a Future Flight venture supported by UK Research and Innovation, has found that 68% of the British public have an optimistic view of the future of drones, and of their ability to improve quality of life.

The project, which ANGOKA was selected for last year and is led by BT and Altitude Angel, is focused on developing and testing the viability of drone usage beyond the visual line of sight (BVLOS), for use cases including emergency services. This includes work on an 8 kilometre commercial drone corridor that runs from Heathrow Airport to Reading, the first of its kind.

Project Xcelerate also highlights concerns around potential deliberate misuse of drones, as well as worries around privacy of personal data and property. For this reason, having strong cybersecurity measures is essential when developing the future of Smart Mobility, and why we are committed to showing global leadership in this area.

ANGOKA is pleased to be contributing our expertise in cybersecurity on this project, building upon our innovative solution for securing other forms of Smart and IoT technology. We are especially proud to be working on a project which will continue to improve the public’s confidence toward drone usage, opening up use cases that will be life-changing for many people.
