Looking back at 2021 – and ahead to 2022!

December 14, 2021

2021 has certainly been an eventful year, and ANGOKA are proud to have made the most of the opportunities presented to us, despite the ever-shifting Covid-19 situation. We participated in prestigious programmes and events, and our technology was recognised and highlighted by several well-known figures and organisations.

Firstly, our UK Government-funded projects that began in 2020 continued in 2021, as we continued to make great strides in Projects Xcelerate, AirQKD and UASAS. The first two R&D projects are led by BT, with whom we have a strong working relationship; the latter is led by ANGOKA, in collaboration with Cranfield University and Connected Places Catapult.

We participated in Zenzic’s Connected and Autonomous Mobility Scale-Up Programme, which finished successfully in April. ANGOKA was also selected for two Plug & Play programmes: Plug & Play Smart Cities (Mobility vertical, based in the Silicon Valley) and Plug & Play Detroit.

ANGOKA was also featured in Digital DNA’s Top 100 Tech Companies in Northern Ireland list, further cementing our status as an up-and-coming NI start-up. Other accolades included ANGOKA’s COO, Daniela Menzky, being longlisted for the Most Influential Women in Tech list. We were also featured in JP Morgan’s Top 200 Female-Powered Businesses.

We were also pleased to participate in a number of events this year. ANGOKA virtually exhibited at shows including Security & Policing, JSAE, Infosec (where we were named one of the UK’s Most Innovative Cyber Security SMEs), CyNam and the UK Space Conference. Once the world began to open up, we had a particularly busy autumn, participating in IAA Mobility, DSEI, the NI Business Showcase (hosted by No. 10 Downing Street), DroneX, CENEX-LCV, Digital DNA, ITS World Congress (where our pitch won the prestigious Technology Innovation Award) and more. We were also chosen to be one of Hello Tomorrow’s Deep Tech Pioneers, giving us access to a whole new network and marking our final event of the year.

ANGOKA was also pleased to announce our partnership with the Future Mobility Park, a new test-bed in Rotterdam.

Finally, we incorporated in The Netherlands, opening an office in The Hague, where we will continue to build out our team. We are continuing to hire across departments in our Belfast, London and Dutch offices; if you are looking for your next role, take a look at the Careers page!

We are looking forward to further growing ANGOKA and developing our solutions for Smart Cities and Mobility in 2022. From the everyone at ANGOKA, we wish you a happy holiday season and a happy new year!
